Another normal day in Monica Mathis’s life, started with scrolling through her Facebook newsfeed, not knowing that she is about to see the picture of her long-lost dog on a peer can.

Motorworks Brewing recently started a campaign, aiming to raise money and awareness, by putting local shelter dogs on their beer cans. The campaign took the media by storm, and that was great news, until one day they saw a comment from Monica Mathis on Facebook telling them that one of these dogs is her dog that she lost three years ago!

The moment I saw her picture, I thought she looked like my dog. But, after taking a second look, I knew she is my dog!”. Said Monica Mathis.

One day, in May 2017, Monica Mathis lost Hazel her beautiful golden terrier mix dog. And after weeks of searching with no results, Monica Mathis knew that she lost her four-legged friend dog, and she will spend the rest of her life missing her.

However, fortunately, it was meant to be together and reunited again. A new job made Monica Mathis leave her Iowa home to Minnesota, years later she found her dog’s picture on the peer can in Minnesota! No one knows how she ended up here in Florida, but we know now that they are finally together again.

I sent everything I could find- all the pictures and documents the prove that she is my dog‘ Said Monica Mathis, and added, ‘ I couldn’t lose her again!’.

Her what Monica Mathis said to KSTP.com.

After the shelter accepted all the documents Monica Mathis sent, she agreed to sent Hazel back home and posted on their official Facebook page, celebrating the amazing reunion: ‘Hazel found her pawrents!’.

With this in mind, according to the Tampa Bay Times, Hazel was microchipped, but the microchip has outdated contact information. And that made finding her real parents harder.

Therefore, we really do recommend that you update your dog’s microchip so you have a better chance of finding your dog in case of losing him/her. And, if you need to know more about Microchipping, please check this link.

Do you think microchipping can save your dog’s life?
