What some would do to poor dogs is beyond comprehension to me. I just can’t understand what is going inside people’s minds anymore, and even worse, the crime in this story was done by kids. What kind of parents do they have when they do such nasty things at their age?

The hero in our story is a dog named Peanut, who is a defenseless 1-year-old pit bull puppy that lives in Philadelphia.

Peanut was found on lying on the sidewalk in the city completely unresponsive, but he was alive, so an animal control officer from Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT) approached the pup and called out to her, but the dog didn’t move

Even when he touched her, she didn’t respond at all. She was still breathing, and on closer inspection, it was discovered that the dog was panting frantically.

This was perplexing to the rescuers. The dog seemed fine. She was not injured, she didn’t seem to have been terribly abused, and yet she was in a state of panic and terror.

Her tired heart was racing incredibly fast that they feared her heart might explode.

They rushed her to an animal shelter, and when she arrived, she was unresponsive.

The team started fluids and bloodwork immediately, and comforted the poor girl, giving her the affection that she desperately needed and deserved. They didn’t know what had happened to her, but they knew they had to act fast.

She couldn’t stand, she couldn’t walk, she couldn’t even drink or eat. She just laid there panting. Everyone was terrified for her, and everyone was very confused, this wasn’t something they had seen before.

She was transferred to Windcrest, a nearby animal hospital, for additional care and so they could test her for drugs.

That’s how they discovered what was wrong with the pup.
