A man from Alabama was shocked, to say the least when he found a box with 6 tiny puppies abandoned in the woods.
The tiny pups were in a critical condition and they were running out of time – they were heading for a terrible fate. The man indeed rushed out the woods with the box of pups to the nearest local vet to save their lives.
Each of the pups weighed around 5 pounds. They had open wounds from themselves raw, they had no hair, they were frozen to the bone, and they were severely malnourished.
The pups were then brought to a shelter in Sylacauga, Alabama, and even the shelter staff – who see a lot of rescue dogs – were shocked by the condition of the pups.
They slowly started working on getting them better. It wasn’t easy, but they were able to finally get them to foster homes.
Even when they were in their foster homes, they were still so weak that they required a lot more effort to get them better. After many medicated baths, good meals, and lots and lots of love, they started to show their beauty.
After their fur started growing up, no one was fully able to determine the breed of these dogs. The puppies were so tiny that everyone just assumed they are a small breed, some guessed cocker spaniels and some guessed poodles.
With time, it was clear that these assumptions were very wrong.
The dogs simply kept growing larger and larger. After the dogs were adopted into their new homes, DNA tests revealed that the breed was the Great Pyrenees, a herding dog breed that’s very large that they can actually fight off wolves.
Dog owners can pay thousands of dollars for a Great Pyrenees puppy, but somehow these pups ended up abandoned in the woods to die!
These pups now are living in their forever homes and they are getting all the love they deserve from their new families.
