Police in Lakeside, Colorado, were left in a shock when they found a dog convulsing inside a car that was boiling hot.
The bodycam of police officer Dave Kornowski’s captured the heartbreaking footage showing the dog convulsing as a result of the immense heat inside the car.
The dog was suffering from neurological issues and vets now fear he could end up permanently disabled.
The dog couldn’t even bark, he was panting so heavy. His mouth was so dry, he couldn’t even control himselfOfficer Kornowski said
The officers noticed the dog inside a car parked outside a supermarket and had to break the window to rescue the dog.
The officers reported that the dog’s owner was more concerned about the damage caused by the officers to his car than what was happening to his dog.
The owner then drove off in the vehicle, but police chased him down and he was subsequently arrested.
The man appeared in court on Wednesday on an eluding charge and an animal cruelty charge was also added, the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office said.
The dog was taken to Wheat Ridge Animal Medical Center and was in a very critical condition. Thankfully, the vets expect the dog to make it and survive, but they are not sure of what kind of permanent damage to expect.
The dog’s health is currently stable and they are monitoring him for any types of changes that may occur.
