There is a tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York City who has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Right now, many other animals in the Bronx Zoo are being monitored for COVID-19 symptoms.
The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), which is the society that operates the zoo, stated in a press release that an asymptomatic carrier of COVID-19 most likely infected the animals in the zoo.
This tiger is considered to be the first known case in the United States, where COVID-19 was detected in an animal. This tiger also the first confirmed COVID-19 case in tigers in the whole world.
